To export columns in an MMC console to a text file

1. In an open MMC console, click an item in the console tree that displays columns in the details pane.
2. On the Action menu, click Export List.
3. In the Export List dialog box, enter the following information:
   • In Save in, click a location to save the file.
   • In File name, type a name for the file.
   • In Save as type, click a file format in the list.
   • To export only certain rows, select the Save Only Selected Rows check box.
4. Click Save.

Notes

• To export only certain rows in the details pane, select the rows.
• If you want to export the entire contents of the details pane, skip the preceding step.
• Some snap-ins do not provide the ability to select more than one row in the details pane. For these snap-ins, you can export all the rows in the details pane, but not selected rows only.
• Unicode file formats are not available in Save as type for operating systems earlier than Windows NT 4.0.
